The Role Of Women Through The Ages - 901 Words

Robert Rinderknecht Engl 2322 Anglo Saxon Heckelman Apr. 27th 2015 The Role of Women through the Ages Historical timepieces give readers a glimpse into the lifestyles of humans through the ages. Many customs are still in force where others are long forgotten. One of these customs that is seen with a slow progression is the role of women. The key question to ask is are women in these poems active equals of the men or are they passive victims of the men. The roles of the women in Beowulf, Canterbury Tales, and Utopia are not always stereotyped as a passive homemaker, child bearer and peace weaver, but sometimes giving freedom of choice, range of activity, and room for personal growth and development. This freedom becomes more apparent as time passes by with very little in Beowulf, to a much more accepted form in Utopia. Beowulf is an epic tale written in the 7th century. In the poem, only a few female characters are introduced that possess unique characteristics. The women in Beowulf are portrayed as strong quiet individuals, who have very simple tasks. However, they are considered property and have very little freedoms of choice where patriarchal society is dominating. Such as Wealhtheow, when she is first introduced, she is portrayed as a gracious hostesses of the mead halls filling the cups for the men.. Wealhtheow is Hrothgar s queen and the mother of his two sons. Wealhtheow portrays the role of a traditional woman for the time period. Fall Prevention Programs Are Not As Successful As Desired

Research Problem/Purpose This article’s main research problem was that most fall prevention programs depicted in hospitals were not as successful as desired. Despite implementation of the programs, hospitals still had a high rate of falls and/or injuries related to falls within their units. The purpose of this particular study was to solve this problem and examine the contribution of the response time to a patient’s call light and the fall related injuries in adult, in-patient facilities. Variables/Hypothesis/Questions/Assumptions Within this research, there were many constructs and variables to be addressed. The covariates/controls were the hospital type, total nursing hours per patient, the percentage of registered nurses (RNs) working those hours, average case mix index, percentage of patients 65 years or older, percentage of altered mental status patients, percentage of patients with hearing problems and the call light usage rate per day. This research had one independent and two dependent variables. The independent variable had to do with the average response time to the call lights. The dependents were the fall rate and the injury-related fall rate. The operational definitions for both dependent variables were (number of total falls x1000/total patient-days) and (number of injury x 1000/ total patient-days). Patient-days refers to how many patients were dealt with per day. Is literature the expression of the human condition Free Essays

string(204) " seem no good for ME to stay†I couldn’t do nothing, and I didn’t want to be hung if I could So I never stopped running till I found the canoe; told Jim to hurry, or theyd catch me get away\." Is Literature the Expression of the Human Condition Oh yes, is literature the expression of the human condition or is it not? Yes, literature is and for only one reason, Normans Conquest 1066. But also literature is recorders of history, recordings of time. Literature also a sequence of words, it can consist of all meanings, expressing the human condition, emotions, recorders, it defines life. We will write a custom essay sample on Is literature the expression of the human condition or any similar topic only for you Order Now The human condition is experiences of being human in a social, cultural, and personal context, it’s an aspect of positives and negatives of being human. So forth, literature is shown in Death of a Salesman, where Willy is stuck in his wn past and everyone but him knows that. But like all humans, we all have dreams, hopes, and plans. â€Å"LINDA: He’ll find his way. WILLY: Sure. Certain men Just don’t get started till later in life. Like Thomas Edison, I think. Or B. F. them was deaf. [He starts for the money on Biff. † Goodrich. One of bedroom doorway. ] I’ll put my Willy hoping that one day for Biff to be a famous salesman, like one of the best salesman out there, at the top with Thomas Edison, or B. F. or Goodrich. But both Linda and Willy knew that Biff would never be a major success in business, but even though they knew it, they still hoped and believed in him. The American dream was to be the number one, at the top better than everyone else and that’s what Willy always wanted, he wanted to be the best, especially the best salesman. He was living in the past and ruining all hopes of ever becoming the best. He Just couldn’t grasp on the fact that the future was coming sooner then he thought, and wasn’t ready for it. CHARLEY: â€Å"Nobody dast blame this man. You don’t understand: Willy was a salesman. And for a salesman, there’s no rock bottom to the life. He don’t put a bolt to a the law or give you medicine. He’s a nut, he don’t tell you man way out there in the blue riding on a smile and a ack†that’s an shoeshine. And when they start not smiling earthquake. And then you get yourself a couple spots your hat and your finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream boy, it comes with the territory. Charley insisting that Willy a salesman and no matter he always will be, his dream will never die, and even when your salesman and it’s not going the best it possibly can or you’re not the best in the world there’s no rock bottom. Also as you can see in Great Gatsby ,Literature is expressing that humans can be split by wealth The poor do their own thing, nave their own parties and hen the more wealthy class stay wit h their group and have their own events. But also in this book it prove one man’s love for a women and how long and how far people are willing to go to prove their love. Well for Gatsby he Just never gave up on the girl of his dreams, he followed her, set up every moment perfectly, planned everything. â€Å"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one†¦ Just remember that all the people in this world havent had the advantages that you’ve had. â€Å"(l) In life, not everyone has the opportunities as others would get, so it’s like that saying â€Å"Don’t Judge a book by its cover. † Because if you are criticizing people Just off looks, or what you think they might be or what they might have done, you might never know, and maybe you would be wrong. You never know what some people have been through, until that day you learn how to go up to them and stop Judging and talk to them and find out who they really are. In humans we have the intensity to always Judge someone, will it be looks, wealth, personality, how they talk, or what they do. No matter where you go it’s in the human condition that someone or everyone will Judge you, either it will be said to your face or in their mind. It’s human nature for Judging, to also debate weather how we will get treated or act. â€Å"Gatsby’s wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock†¦. is dream must have close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He seemed so did not know that it was already behind him. † (182) Gatsby gets so close to the girl he’s in love with, so close but yet so far. Emotions is one of the key part to the human condition, love can play a big role in life, it can take control over your mind, soul, heart, everything, it can be the best feeling in the world or it can be the worst. It can feel like heaven but hurt like hell. But if love didn’t hurt or give the pain it gives then there would be no reasons to come back to it. Or to keep falling in and out of love. In The Adventures of Huckflnn, Huck lies throughout the book, but in some cases it’s for the best, to either save himself or someone he cares about. But it’s like Truth vs. Lies vs. Life and death, for example â€Å"Honest, I’ll tell you everything Just as it happened, your majesty. The man that had a-holt of me was very good to kept saying he had a boy about as big as me that he was sorry to see a boy in such a me, and ied last year, and dangerous fix; and when they was all took by surprise by coffin, he lets go sure! finding the gold, and made a rush for the of me and whispers, ‘Heel it now, or theyll hang ye, and I lit out. It didn’t seem no good for ME to stay†I couldn’t do nothing, and I didn’t want to be hung if I could So I never stopped running till I found the canoe; told Jim to hurry, or theyd catch me get away. You read "Is literature the expression of the human condition" in cate gory "Literature" and when I got here I and hang me yet, and said I was afeard you and the duke so was Jim, Jim if I 55) wasn’t alive now, and I was awful sorry, and and was awful glad when we see you coming; you may ask Huck is lying to save himself, but also he got lucky that the man that was holding him, his son died that year and was around his age and height, but it reminded n of his son. The man felt sorry for Huck, that he was in such a dangerous fix, so when the man got a chance to let Huck run, he did. The human condition, is like when we get a chance to lie we usually take it, Just as long as we get what we want, Just put words together and make it into sentences that people want to hear, but it’s all bull shit. An nice over being a asshole, out in the world there are mainly assholes, but ho can really blame them since if your too nice you get taken for granted. In Winesburg Ohio, literature is expressed through many of ways, in all of the short stories. In â€Å"Hands† a guy uses his hands to talk but he got kick out of his home town for doing that, for the town people thought he wasn’t the same as them, and they didn’t like people who where different, they wanted everything the same everyone the same. The coming of industrialization, attended by all the roar and rattle of affairs, the shrill cries of millions have come among us from overseas, trains, the growth of cities, of voices that he going and coming of the building of the interurban car lines that weave in in and out of towns and past farmhouses, and now these later days the coming of the automobiles has worked a tremendous change in lives and in the habits of thought of our people of Mid- America. â€Å"(56) U rbanization and travel have changed America, as the humanity started to change so did movement, traveling, and more to advance into the future. Making life easier, but in Winesburg Ohio, towns were full of one type of people because if you were different they would either run you out of the town or end up killing you, having someone different then veryone else Just wasn’t common for them. Going on, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, as a slave suffering was a daily thing, and white folks were stupid for insistence†¦ â€Å"l have often been utterly astonished, since I came to the north, to find persons who could speak of the among slaves, as evidence of their It is impossible to singing, contentment and happiness. conceive of a greater mistake. Slaves sing most when they are most unhappy. The songs of the slave sorrows of his heart; and he is relieved represent the by them, only as an aching heart is relieved by its often tears. At least, such is my experience. I have sung to drown my sorrow, but seldom to express my happiness. Crying for Joy, and singing for Joy, were uncommon to me while in the Jaws of slavery. alike The singing ofa man cast away upon a desolate considered as island might be as appropriately evidence of contentment and happiness, as the singing of a slave; the songs of the one and of the prompted by the same emotion. (2. 9) other are The white folks that seen the slave singing songs, and dancing thought that they were happy, but never really understand that they were hoping for slavery to stop, to be free. Every man and every women should have equal rights no matter what color black, white, yellow, blue.. ect. All humans are equal that how God made us, Just because some are better in other things than oth ers, doesn’t make them less human or equal, slavery could work either way. So why put yourself in a position that you wouldn’t want to be in, in the first place. The Things They Carried, as literature is the expression of the human condition, it can be a not so pretty site at time. Life’s already like a war, it’s like the battlefield of life, but then to add to it, we got the most horrible thing know to mankind â€Å"war. â€Å"When I’m out there at night, I feel close to my own body, I can feel my blood moving, my skin and my everything, it’s like I’m full of electricity fingernails, and I’m glowing in the dark– I’m on fire almost–l’m burning away to nothing–but it doesn’t matter because I know exactly where I am. (1 1 1) War can change all aspects of a man, it’s one of the most burial things in this world and watching with your only two pairs of eyes. We all have our own limits, till we finally break, and watching as your comrades or one of your best friends get shot, either critically injured, or to point they die. Will always change someone, chang e their life forever, war is not something to Joke about as are men fight for our safety and for us, we sit back at home living our life, like nothing going on. I’m skimming across the surface of my own history, moving fast, riding the melt beneath the loops and spins, and when I take a blades, doing high leap into the dark and come down thirty years Timmy’s later, I realize it is as Tim trying to save life with a story. â€Å"(246) In this quote it shows what people really would do to save someone life, because one life can make a big differences. But Literature is the expression of the human condition, for life is something worth wild, as words have all different kinds of meaning they all can be inter twined with each other, which can tell stories and which makes history as we know it. Governance Audit of Application Procurement †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Governance Audit of Application Procurement. Answer: Introduction: Successful help desk or service desk management is a basic piece of giving great client service and keeping up a decent client relationship. With this as a reason, there are not kidding necessities of bettering the performance gave by help desks or service desks and their appropriate management. It would help managers in obtaining bound together interior and outside performance benefits. The thought is of making little strides towards enhancing service set up of just beginning from the begin and after that to a great extent putting resources into the dynamic strategy. However, relationship with purchasers confront issues at the season of making little strides, as that influences the association to end up plainly more decided on the consolidation and change as opposed to on the inevitable preferred standpoint - furnishing of clients with the best client service and having the best type of association with them (Sparrow 2012). Two most productive parts of a decent help desk or service desk management are examined underneath: Before assuming liability of any form of change endeavors, there is the need of examining what is as of now being done inside the business that are related with the arrangement of help inside the segments of help desk or service desk, customers and different divisions of the association. Distinctively, it may happen that there exists effectively a few groups and divisions that are assuming up the liability of exercises that are like this and there are probabilities that a portion of the real practices are as of now arranged set up inside the association that can be additionally advanced and acknowledged somewhere else (Krisanthi, Sukarsa Bayupati, 2014). Like for instance, inside any product organization and their inner IT bolster, standards of IT infrastructure library (ITIL) are now received, separating form which the client mind group could profit in a direct way from the ITIL technique for episodes, issues, discharge and change management in shifted ranges like following product change, actualizing and following those new products in the market for the clients (Ali, Soomro Brohi, 2013). Reviews of the service level management by dint of service foundation that is offered by the help desk or the service desk and adjusting of the IT arrangements deliberately with the more extensive needs of the business would likewise bolster. Self service solutions are considered by many similar to the best solution on the off chance that they are legitimately utilized inside the association. They contain the capacity of being tremendously productive. They even present the benefits of introducing working out-of-hours coverage that permits any worry the chance of being in consideration for being measured to be taken care of on a priority premise the ensuing day. By and large, the information bases could be recouped by the end user for settling their own particular issues. Looking from the angle of help desk or service desk management, these forms of coverage could be confirm as being tremendously financially savvy, symptomatically taking without end 33% of the brings toward the primary line help desk or service desk especially in regions, for example, call updates and status checking. This circumstance affects enlistment and staffing levels, releasing workforces in more innovative ranges inside concern resolution. As far as this exchange, at a lower level, self-service can go about just like the best solution. It is amazingly crucial that situational dangers like when the end users self-control tremendously specialized resolutions are stayed away from (Jntti, 2013). References Ali, S. M., Soomro, T. In God We Trust and the First Amendment essays

In God We Trust and the First Amendment essays There might be contentions in some sectors of the American society that putting the In God We Trust phase in U.S. currencies violates the First Amendment rights which states that: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (The United States Constitution). But if the amendment is carefully dissected, it states a general clause that tempers the government from prohibiting the free and democratic exercise of believing in a supreme deity. It does not specifically promote or condone a particular religious sect or faith but rather gives a universal perspective of practicing ones beliefs provided one religious belief does not curtail the practice of another. The In God we Trust phrase can also apply to any religious group because the term God can be interpreted as a generic term for a supreme being believed by any religious group. Indeed, there is the separation of the Church and the State in the United States, and putting the In God We Trust does not uphold any particular religious organization but rather gives a sweeping idealistic notion that the political government of the United States promotes freedom of ones chosen religion but will not specifically represent any one specific religion. Thus, if I were to give a final judgment on whether the In God We Trust phrase violates the First Amendment, I would surely say it does not in the general sense because it simply expounds on the Founding Fathers belief in a supreme deity without getting into specifics. Only if a particular group challenges my judgment or complains that the phrase is actually a connotation that supports religion or is against the concept of separation of the Church and the State will I take at second look at the ...

Max power transfer theorem and kirkchhoffs laws Lab Report

Max power transfer theorem and kirkchhoffs laws - Lab Report Example Irrespective of the high dissipated power because of the lower total resistance, it happens that the dissipated amount of power would be reduced. This paper reports on an experiment done to investigate the Maximum power transfer Theorem. A laboratory power supply was connected in series using a fixed 100 ohm resistor. A decade resistance box was connected across the simulated source of voltage to function as the variable resistor load, RL. The RL was temporarily removed and connected to the meter to measure the voltage across the 100 ohm resistor and the power supply. The power supply was adjusted until the voltmeter reads 1 v. The voltage setting was not adjusted from this point. The simulated voltage in the open circuit was found to be 1V. RL was reconnected. The current and the voltage was measured through connecting a voltmeter and ammeter as shown in diagram 1, for a number of values of resistance, RL, from zero to 200 ohms. The readings were recorded in table 1 under the results section of this report. The voltage was half the open circuit value at 200 ohm. This value was not expected. It is different from the theoretical value. This value was obtained as a result of experimental errors. The load current was half the short circuit value at 200 ohm. This value was not expected. It is different from the theoretical value. This value was obtained as a result of experimental errors. The load resistance for which power is dissipated in the load VLIL at the maximum is 200 ohms. This value was not expected. It is different from the theoretical value. This value was obtained as a result of experimental errors. The obtained result agrees with the maximum power transfer theorem, which argue that the dissipated power in the load would be maximum whenever the load is equal to the resistance source. The obtained results in the study were in agreement with the theorem of maximum power
